Crafting the Perfect Blend
Once we have the barrel, we carefully select a coffee and measure out 100 pounds of raw coffee beans—enough to fill roughly half a standard whiskey barrel. These beans are still green, unroasted, and ready to soak up the barrel’s unique character.
The Aging Process
Coffee beans are stored at 14–18% moisture, making them highly porous and perfectល ideal for absorbing the whiskey-soaked essence within the barrel’s staves. Over 7 to 15 days—the sweet spot we’ve perfected—the beans draw out rich, complex flavors from both the barrel and the whiskey, creating a one-of-a-kind taste profile.
Preparing for the Roast
After aging, we transfer the beans to a food-grade bin to let excess moisture evaporate. This step ensures optimal roasting conditions, allowing us to roast smaller batches for better control. During roasting, all alcohol burns off, leaving only the bold, distinct flavors of the coffee, whiskey, and barrel.
